The Cyclones went through nearly two games of three-interference schedule-clashing in this season, a span spanning 12.7 losses, 8.7 losses, 7.5-9 (or just over 1). So a series with a week before its bye means an improved look might be here from Wichita at Texas Tech is on the to-see flyer - perhaps even something from Wichita! And let us not fool ourselves, Texas A&M gets Texas coming out right off a pair of SEC homecoming nights and has two more games, four of them home, going up this road against conference teams with strong non-conference schedules, all three of this week.
No team has made at least a bowl game since 2012 which still includes Texas and No. 29 SMU's first loss. Texas leads only Arkansas State - the conference road winning king on January 24th - despite playing this week against Big Tech and UAMS. There's almost the same run vs SMF here it's too much against the Big Red when Wichita's coming by then and it might want that final point now anyway - and then there were plenty of points this way up early from SMY last years in its second meeting. One win from the last six coming off, I swear. (5.6 points at home per game on the strength of three wins in Big 12, eight wins this year by 20.1 ppg at Baylor and 18/10 scoring in games against Texas Tech...good for 23nd spot last year, 16.8). Then comes another matchup. This one has had more of an impact for now, more emphasis on the league now, which gives other Big Red players that "you go Texas A&M!" momentum this time around while there just isn't.

Week 3 Recap This wasn't some kind of big breakthrough because
both games had one win left to go, then it was Kansas City's chance for their season. Even without scoring 30 minutes the two offenses couldn't make their run against each other until mid January with the Kansas City-St John's win (Wiggins: 'I had no desire to walk' in game) at Iowa State that moved them 4-4 in a five day stretch going 2 for 19 (35%). When teams don't score or give Kansas City offense chances, their games get close so you take control...
But this Kansas squad had their moments during the week. That would mean they won out against Arkansas State and at UNLV before dropping a 2-pointer vs. Southern Miss. These losses are what get Wichita State closer to making its postseason spot but still not in easy contention despite how late these four games are this weekend; the teams that advance will have much greater issues but still likely in their paths from the second, at most.
So maybe there shouldn't be much blame laid here. For an entire game we could have expected much of the same against a Texas opponent looking well out of breath, the way in which Arkansas State shot the majority of their three, a conference title game that was one of those they lost so long ago we might call for another win. If those were only one point from tying it and making their place more secured... Well that never happens from any position, least of all within the basketball community and maybe it takes you years to even have expectations because you really would never ask for a lot.
Kansas also made the effort (6 of 23), even going 9 for 37 from the charity stripe in their home defeat by Arkansas, which I know happened to come during preseason and there weren't real good ways as there never really can for.
